Chiyaan Vikram’s highly anticipated action thriller Cobra, directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu, hits theatres on August 31. This is the third film from the director known for making unconventional films in an appealing way. SS Lalit Kumar produced the film under the Seven Screen Studios banner, while the Telugu release will be via NV Prasad’s NVR Cinema. A few days before the film’s release, the producers revealed the theatrical trailer for the film.
Vikram plays the main character of Cobra, a genius who breathes numbers every second of his life and can mathematically find a solution to any problem. The trailer also references the title. Just like Cobra, who keeps shedding skin and can hide and attack his enemies, Vikram’s character wears multiple avatars, spans lands, and uses math to commit crimes.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, making his film debut, starred as a police officer in search of the elusive Cobra. Srinidhi Shetty tried out Vikram’s love interest which starred Roshan Mathew in a negative shadow role. Miya George, KS Ravikumar and Mrinalini Ravi are the other prominent cast members.
Immediately after the trailer launched, a number of people took to the comments section to share posts appreciating Chiyaan Vikram’s acting. “No one can beat Vikram Sir A man with zero haters. Outstanding trailer,” while a second shared, “This movie is going to be a blockbuster too.” A third person commented: “The only person who chooses different scripts regardless of the outcome even at this age. All the best to the whole team of MAHESH BABU FAN’S”. One fan even wrote, “I’m really impressed.”
Along with Vikram’s dazzling show, vivid visuals and high-octane action sequences are other great assets. AR Rahman ran the music department while Harish Kannan turned on the camera.
